PSLE Score Calculator and Posting Group Checker

Use this free calculator to work out your child's PSLE Score from their four Achievement Levels (ALs), see which Posting Group it falls in, and which subjects your child may take at a more demanding level (G1, G2 or G3) in Secondary 1. PSLE results are released in late November. The rules follow the Ministry of Education's Full Subject-Based Banding.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

How is the PSLE Score calculated?

Each of the four subjects (English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science) gets an Achievement Level from AL1 (best) to AL8. The PSLE Score is the total of the four, from 4 to 32. A lower score is better. Foundation subjects graded A, B or C count as AL6, AL7 and AL8.

What are Posting Groups?

Posting Groups are used to admit students into secondary school. A PSLE Score of 4 to 20 is Posting Group 3 (most subjects start at G3). 21 to 22 is Posting Group 2 or 3. 23 to 24 is Posting Group 2 (G2). 25 is Posting Group 1 or 2. 26 to 30 is Posting Group 1 (G1), for students with AL7 or better in English and Mathematics.

Can my child take some subjects at a higher level?

Yes. Students in Posting Groups 1 and 2 can take English, Mother Tongue, Mathematics and Science at a more demanding level from Secondary 1, based on their PSLE result in that subject: AL5 or better for G3 or G2, and AL6 (or Foundation grade A) for G2. The secondary school goes through this with you when your child registers.

What happens after the results?

Together with the results, your child receives the S1 Option Form to list secondary school choices. Posting results come out in December, and school starts in January. Read our guide: PSLE Results Are Coming Soon: How to Prepare Your Child for Secondary 1.
