PSLE English Tuition in Hougang
PSLE English tuition for Primary 5 and 6 students at 212 Hougang Street 21, a 3-minute walk from Kovan MRT. Classes run on Saturdays at 10am, 12pm and 2pm, taught by our NUS-graduate English tutor. Every class has at most 6 students, lessons are 2 hours, and fees are $80 a lesson. We also teach Primary 1 to 4 English and Secondary English.
What we cover
Every part of the PSLE English examination, following the current format:
- Paper 1 (Writing): Situational Writing (letters, emails and reports) and Continuous Writing (planning a story from the pictures, strong openings, characters, climax and endings).
- Paper 2 (Language Use and Comprehension): Grammar and Vocabulary MCQ, Vocabulary Cloze, Visual Text, Grammar Cloze, Editing, Comprehension Cloze, Synthesis and Transformation, and Comprehension.
- Paper 3 (Listening Comprehension): listening for detail and following instructions.
- Paper 4 (Oral): Reading Aloud and Stimulus-Based Conversation.
Our own English materials
- Practice for every Paper 2 component, each with a tutor answer copy that explains the rule or reason.
- Composition Theme Packs: a model composition with useful phrases explained, how the story is planned, and a planner for your child's own piece.
- Situational Writing units for every format, with model answers.
- Oral Practice Sets with reading passages, conversation questions and model responses.
- PSLE English Notes: a strategy for every part of the paper.
How every lesson works
Each skill follows the Outclass Approach: Understand, Apply, Master, Perform. Compositions and situational writing are marked with feedback your child can act on, and grammar rules are practised until they stick. After every lesson, parents see what was covered, the stage reached and a tutor's note in our parent app.

Who teaches English?
Our English tutor is an NUS graduate who has taught at Writers' Samurai, a writing specialist school.
My child's compositions are weak. Where do you start?
With planning: what happens, why it matters and how it ends. Then we build vocabulary and the showing-not-telling skills that lift Continuous Writing marks.
How much are lessons?
$80 a lesson, 2 hours, with at most 6 students per class. No registration or material fees.
Do you also teach PSLE Math and Science?
Yes: PSLE Math and PSLE Science.
